The lecture is presented live on the 2nd Friday of the month from 11 am to 12 noon at PeninsulaWorks 271-92nd St. Daly City.  A secured San Mateo County facility, you should present picture I.D. at the front desk.  PeninsulaWorks enrollment is FREE.  You should take advantage of the available services.

Lecture content

1. Welcome

2. What is your name and what type of job are you seeking?

3. What is Toastmasters

    a. Toastmaster Structure

        1. Member, Club, Area, Division, District, International

        2. Club types - Community, Company, Specialty

        3. Membership Dues & How Peninsula Works clients can attend FREE.

        4. When clubs meet - Monday thru Sunday AM Noon PM etc.

        5. Communication Skill building through meetings.  Interview skill building by participation in table topics.

        6. Leadership skill building through participation in meeting roles, club officer roles, district officer roles, and event & seminar management.

    b. Speech structure (both Table Topics & Prepared talks)

        1. Opening - question is the easiest.  Ask the interviewer if he/she makes the hiring decision.  If the persons says "No", I am the interviewer.  

        2. Body - Follow with How you can make the company money and save time.  Tell the interviewer about your accomplishments and present evidence.  Tell the interviewer about your skills and present certifications.  Tell the interviewer about any lapse in time between jobs and what you have been doing (volunteer work, child raising, temporary work, self-employment, etc.).  

        3. Close with (Decision Maker) When do I start? or (Interviewer) You will recommend me for the job, right?.

        4. If no, why not?  Am I not qualified?  What am I missing?  Is the position(s) still open?  Am I overqualified?
